As some of you may know, this past fall we relocated our business from New Hampshire to Port Townsend, Washington. We had to find a new space for our glass-making shop and for a number of good reasons moving our operation clear across the country made the most sense for the future of Crystal Delights.
We are very pleased to announce that our new glass-making shop is now fully complete and fully functional! We moved and set up all of our equipment from New Hampshire, and invested in some brand new equipment. The new shop boasts 1,200 square feet of space, and features a glass-making workshop, manufacturing and storage space, along with room for a main retail space, and a small adult retail space. We’re very excited to have a future space where people can come pick up an order or pick that special tail.
Our most exciting addition to our shop is a brand new American Lathe, manufactured by Shawn Lapp and his team. We love our new American Lathe! This lathe gives us the ability to secure and rotate the glass pieces so the lamp worker (glass-maker) can manipulate the glass with more precision. This has helped greatly to increase our quality and production capacity.
We have two full time glass-makers, as well as one part time, with plans to increase that number before the coming holiday season. Our new shop also makes it possible for us to now start expanding the scope of products we make, and we will be offering new creations in the near future, adult as well as non-adult. We have lots of ideas on the drawing board!
Clearly we’re thrilled to share this great news with our customers, and we look forward to making more of the functional art we, and you love in our wonderful new shop!
