Holiday Events at Sand Harbor in December | Nevada State Parks



Come join the staff at Sand Harbor of Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park for weekend events and activities during the month of December. A wide variety of activities will be occurring such as interpretive talks, ornament crafting, and ranger-led hikes. Enjoy the holiday with us by taking a sleigh ride around Sand Harbor or renting snow shoes to get down to the beach. The park restaurant will be open weekends for a holiday drinks and snacks. Special meal and sleigh ride packages will be available as well. More information can be found at www.parks.nv.gov


‘Before It Was a Park’ History Talk


Join rangers for a presentation on Comstock history and how the natural resources of the Tahoe area supported the activities of the mining district. Follow other events as well leading up to the creation of the park. The event is free but an entrance fee into the park will be required. All ages are welcome.


WHEN: Saturday, December 27th, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.


WHERE: Visitor Center at Sand Harbor, 3 miles south of Incline Village on Hwy. 28.


‘Christmas Heritage’ Talk


Join park staff for a presentation on how Christmas has been celebrated over the years, in different areas, and learn a little about the history and culture surrounding this most important family holiday. The event is free but an entrance fee into the park will be necessary. All ages are welcome.


WHEN: Sunday, December 28th, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.


WHERE: Visitor Center at Sand Harbor, 3 miles south of Incline Village on Hwy. 28.


Hike the Point with Rangers


Join park rangers for a fun and informative ¾ mile hike around the scenic Sand Point Boardwalk at Sand Harbor. Learn about Lake Tahoe along the way as well as facts about the plants and animals in the area. All ages are welcome. Please be sure to dress for the weather and bring your own snacks and drinks. The event is free but an entrance fee into the park will be necessary.


WHEN: Saturday and Sunday, December 27 and 28, all events 1 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
