We started this week with a well deserved sleep-in. After all of the walking we did on Sunday neither of us even blinked open an eyelid until around 10am, oh the joys of holiday! No alarm setting for us!

After a morning of tea, toast and general laziness Jeff headed off to the park to do some drawing while I decided on some retail therapy. I wandered around the shops for a couple of hours and bought a shirt from H&M and some granny-looking shoes from the op-shop. Meanwhile Jeff had accomplished two and a half drawings which you can see by following his Facebook page "Cardigan threads Collective" http://www.facebook.com/cardiganthreadscollective

Who knows, maybe I'll take up lawn bowls some day?
At 2ish we met up with Emma for a late lunch, we walked around a few Cafe's and then remembered a Dumpling place that always looked very busy and the food looked yummy. Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures of our meal, but I assure you it was as delicious as we had predicted.

Today we decided to go and see the "Art and Toys" Exhibition and it was fan-bloody-tastic! The exhibition displays urban and contemporary work that has been collected by a dude called Selim Varol. The space is very large, with most of the exhibits reaching from floor to ceiling. From the first footstep inside the gallery you know it's going to be amazing, we could have easily stayed in here looking at the work all day! There's so much to take in.

First Impressions: Holy shizen!

Audrey Kawasaki originals! *drool*

This piece is rather odd but I really like it!

The artist that did this goes by the name "Swoon"

Sooo much to look at!

Hey fella, you look stuffed.

Selfies in the gallery

You could buy a much smaller one of these at the gallery for 2000 euro, we'll take 5!
Pooped after looking at so much art!
Walking around a gallery for two hours makes you very hungry so we departed said gallery and set off to look for some lunch. We marked a cafe on our map last night that looked like it would be really cool. We had seen the work of the Interior Designer that had designed the whole restaurant at when we were at DMY and it looked amazing. Unfortunately, after walking around the area that it was supposed to be we couldn't find it :( either it had shut-down or we were looking in completely the wrong spot! Instead we headed back to a Turkish restaurant we passed on the way. This turned out to be a great choice! Although none of the menu was written in English we managed to order exactly what we wanted without needing a doggy-bag for the excessive left overs, hoorah!
Falafel, cous cous and salad! Delishimo
With our eyes bigger than our bellies we slowly made our way back to the apartment and found some cool stuff along the way. That's the thing about Berlin, it doesn't matter where you are, there's always something interesting to see, there's literally galleries and art on every single street!
Some random street art. God love Berlin!

Street Art

We walked past a sign that said "Anne Frank exhibition, Free entry today only" so we headed up a few flights of graffiti-covered stairs until we found the exhibit. Fate has it that today is Anne Frank's birthday, so to celebrate they were offering free entry to the exhibition. Anne Frank was young girl who was a victim of the Jewish Holocaust, her diary entries of her experiences during the second world war made her story very famous. Hitler's anti-Jewish regime sent Anne and her family into hiding to avoid being killed by Hitlers army in the early 40's. Unfortunately, after two years of hiding the family were discovered and sent to a concentration camp where Anne eventually met her death one year later at the age of 15. The exhibition showed excerpts from her diary, along with historical references of what was happening with Hitler in Germany at the time. Reading some of the excerpts of what Jewish people went through, as well as the general brutality of war was quite emotional. How could one man be so evil and have so many followers? Anyway, I won't go on about it but It was a really great educational exhibition.
