I realize I haven't even made it to Salzburg yet (next weekend, perhaps) and thus have no good excuse for the SOM allusion, but there you have it.
This week, I took the opportunity of a (religious – and only in Bavaria) holiday (and thus no class) on Thursday to visit Munich's two famous collections of ancient art. Despite (or more probably, because of) it being a holiday, I had both places virtually to myself to wander through – although, the lovely outdoor cafe in the Glyptotek courtyard was fairly crowded with a relaxed newspaper & novel reading crowd: according to my German teacher Wolfram, the courtyard cafe is a quite popular weekend spot in good weather.
The museums are both bursting with masterpieces: the Glyptotek with sculpture (including reconstructions of the Aegina temple pediments) and the Anikensammlung, right across the way, with vases, terracottas, etc.
Just a few, fun objects below:
Ceramic hedgehog, Corinthian – probably a child's toy
Etruscan bronze elephant

beautifully patterned Corinthian vase, with snake lurking under the handle
And finally… a lion-eating-man's-head handle (Etruscan dining vessel)… What else can I say?
