A practical young girl, of 6-8 years, Susan, lives with her no-nonsense mother, Doris, who works for Macy's department store in NYC. A city-wide sensation is caused by a gentleman named Kris Kringle who arrives to be Macy's Santa Claus for the season and inadvertently creates a wave of holiday generosity and good cheer by helping shoppers find the toys they want for Christmas, whether purchased at Macy's or not. Innocently defending his identity as the one-and-only Santa, Kris is put on trial for lunacy. An attorney, Fred Gailey, must prove in court that Kris is truly Santa; and potentially win the hearts of both Susan and Doris.
